Pastor Paul Frederick was born in Effingham, Illinois and raised in Flora, Illinois, graduating from Flora High School is 2002. After graduation, Pastor Frederick enrolled in Crown College of the Bible in Powell-Knoxville, Tennessee studying Pastoral Ministry. After attending Crown for two years, he transferred to Landmark Baptist College in Haines City, Florida.
For nearly three years Pastor Frederick was Youth Pastor in his home church, Calvary Baptist Church in Flora, Illinois under the leadership of Pastor Mike Evans. During this time he realized that, though he had prayed a prayer as a child, he had never been born-again. At a tent revival at the First Baptist Church in Clinton, Illinois, on September 10, 2010, Pastor Frederick went forward and accepted Christ as his personal Saviour.
Janell (Day) Frederick was born in Lake City, Florida and spent much of her childhood in Thomasville, Georgia where her family attended the Victory Baptist Church. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at her home when she was 10 years old. After graduation from Lighthouse Christian School in Valdosta, Georgia in 2001, Janell attended Crown College of the Bible in Powell-Knoxville, Tennessee graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Ministry in 2005.
During Janell’s High School and College years, she spent summers working on staff at Venture of Faith Camp in Lake Park, Georgia. She was also the church pianist at her home church throughout her teenage years and worked on a bus route during college.
The Frederick’s were married on May 20, 2005 in Thomasville, Georgia. Since then they have been blessed with two boys. Drew (Paul Andrew II) was born on October 17, 2006 and Grant Lawson was born on February 27, 2009.
In October of 2012 the Lord led the Fredericks to move to Kalamazoo, Michigan where Pastor Frederick was the Coonhound Programs Manager for United Kennel Club, Inc. A life-long coonhunter, it was truly his dream job. While in Michigan they “got busy” serving the Lord in the Green Meadow Bible Baptist Church. They have made many friends in Michigan and are very thankful for this time in their lives.
From a young age Pastor Frederick has known that the Lord wanted him to pastor a church. For years the entire Frederick family has prayed for the Lord to open a door and show them His will for their lives. On Sunday, March 23, 2014, the Cornerstone Baptist Church elected unanimously to call Pastor Frederick as their next pastor.
The Frederick family is excited to be serving the Lord in Salem and Marion County. In his acceptance sermon Pastor Frederick preached on the main focus of his ministry in Salem, “Reaching and Teaching.” Reaching Salem, Marion County, southern Illinois, and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and teaching both new believers and silver saints the truths of the Word of God. It was at this service the church adopted the motto “A Going Church for our Coming Lord” to emphasize their focus on reaching into their community with the Gospel.
