Pastor Sean Hicks was born in Omaha Nebraska but has grown up in Illinois most of his life. As a child, he and his family began attending Bible Haven Baptist Church in Mt.Vernon IL. As a result of the churches bus ministry, he was saved and baptized at age 10. Later he would meet and marry his High school sweetheart Angela. They have 3 children of their own and have been foster parents to two baby boys whom they have loved as their own!
Pastor Hicks served in the U.S. Marine Corps. The years that followed were spent wandering from the Lord, drinking and playing lead guitar in hard rock/heavy metal bands. In 2004, by strong encouragement of his wife Angela, they attended church back at his childhood church of Bible Haven Baptist Church, now named Mt.Vernon Baptist Temple, still under the founding pastor Dr.Ron Reynolds. That Sunday a message was preached that the Lord would use to bring Sean under heavy conviction. When the invitation was given, Sean walked the isle and rededicated his life to Christ. In just 2 short years, the Lord began to work mightily in his heart and life.
In 2006, at age 30, after what he believed to be a call upon his life since he was a teen, he quit running and surrendered to the call to preach! A year later he was licensed to preach by MVBT and in December 2008 he was ordained. Since that time Pastor Hicks has been faithfully serving the Lord as both pastor/evangelist. One of his most fruitful ministries has been to a secular drug rehab where the Lord has opened the door for him to hold a weekly one hour church service. He and his wife Angela have been faithful to that ministry for 12yrs and have seen a conservative estimate of more than 1,200 people receive Christ as their Savior!
Pastor Hicks is a graduate of La-Salle Peru Township High School, Faith Bible Institute with an advanced diploma in Biblical Studies and currently working towards his PhD through Baptist College of America.
One of his favorite verses is 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
