“The Heat of Summer”

“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” – Genesis 8:22

Summer if finally upon us. It seemed like it would never come but here we are experiencing the heat and humidity of another Southern Illinois summer!

The summer is a time of activity for most people. Outdoor activities abound, weddings and parties are planned, and vacations are scheduled. If we’re not careful it is so easy to get “lost” in the activities and neglect the things of God.

The verse above was spoken by God to the man named Noah. After Noah and his family got out of the Ark (and escaped the worldwide flood), Noah built an altar and sacrificed to thank God for His goodness. God then spake these words and made a covenant with Noah that he would never again flood the entire earth again.  The seasons would continue as long as the earth remained.

This summer we should take some time to remember God’s promise and to thank Him for it.
