Pastor Sean Hicks

Pastor Sean Hicks was saved and baptized at age 10 as the result of the bus ministry of Bible Haven Baptist Church in Mount Vernon IL. This led to his parents and siblings being saved. Fast forward to 1994, pastor Hicks married his highschool sweetheart Angela and had their first child. In 1995 pastor joined the United States Marine Corps, after being honorably discharged, he and his young family moved back to Mt.Vernon IL. Pastor Sean and his wife Angela soon had two more children. For nearly 10 years pastor Hicks was not walking with the Lord nor attending church anywhere. With his marriage in trouble, his wife expressed her desire to begin attending church. Somewhat unwillingly, pastor Hicks agreed. Not sure where to go, he decided to see if the church he had attended as a child was still open. The name had changed but the pastor had not, Dr. Ron Reynold was still preaching.

They attended one Sunday morning and through the preaching, the Lord spoke to his heart about his life and need to repent of his backsliding. At the conclusion of the message an alter call was given. He walked to the altar and rededicated his life to the Lord. He told the Lord he would surrender his will to His and do whatever He wanted. Pastor Hicks and his family became faithful members of the church. In 2006, after much struggling with God upon him to preach, pastor Hicks surrendered to that call. In 2008 he was ordained. Since that he has been a pastor to 3 churches, guest preached at dozens of churches, conducted services at nursing homes, and for 13yrs now he has held church services at a local drug rehab where he has led more than 1,300 people to Christ.

Today pastor Hicks is as passionate about serving the Lord as ever! In September of 2019 Pastor Hicks accepted the pastorate of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Today the church is growing and expanding its ministries. Pastor Sean Hicks has earned an advanced diploma in Biblical Studies from Faith Bible Institute and is currently working towards his PhD from Baptist College of America. Yet if asked, of all his learning, what education was most valuable, he will say it was the years of personal discipleship he had received from his mentor and father in the faith, Dr. Ron Reynolds.
